The desire for a bigger butt has grown thanks to the appearance of celebrities with increased buttocks on concert stages and red-carpet events. One of the most popular methods to gain butt augmentation results is the placement of butt implants that provide an enhanced size and shape to the buttocks. Butt implants are typically made of solid silicone that generally does not rupture or leak. These implants resemble an oval disc and can have an outer contour that is either smooth or textured in feel and appearance. Interested in learning more about butt implants? Butt implant surgery takes about two hours, and it is performed on an outpatient basis. In general, the implants are normally placed in the body using the intramuscular technique which means they are placed in a gluteal muscle pocket.
Many surgeons create a vertical incision that goes down the center of the sacrum (part of the spinal column that is directly connected with, or it forms part of, the pelvis). The incision goes in a downward direction until it reaches the buttock muscle. Then, the surgeon creates a pocket that is located within or under each buttock muscle. The implants are placed in each side of the buttocks and then the muscle is closed around the butt implant using layered sutures.
Patients who are good candidates for butt implant surgery include someone who wants to gain a fuller and more rounded look to the butt or someone who wants to gain better and/or a more symmetrical balance between the size of the butt and the rest of their body. A person with saggy buttocks due to weight loss might be a better candidate for a butt lift (with or without butt implants).
Patients will need to take time off work in order to recover from butt implant surgery. Many of them take at least two weeks off work due to the restrictions involved in being able to sit on the buttocks after the procedure. In addition, the recovery process will also involve some bruising, swelling, and discomfort.
The first week will see the greatest amount of pain and discomfort but the surgeon will prescribe some pain medication to help make the patient more comfortable. In addition, the patient will need to wear a compression garment to help reduce any swelling. The compression garment will need to be worn at all times during the first few weeks after the surgery except for taking a shower. No baths or hot tubs are allowed for the first few weeks of the recovery process.
Any drainage tubes will be left attached to the body up to one week to help clear the body of excess fluids. Patients will not be allowed to sit on the butt for the first two weeks of the recovery process. The beginning of the third week should involve as little sitting as possible and never directly on the buttocks. A pillow can be used, near the hamstring muscle, to help a person sit and keep pressure off the buttocks. The person will also need to sleep on their stomach during this time period.Normal activities can be resumed when the doctor allows it after four to six weeks.
Some of the results patients will see after having implants placed in the butt are visible immediately. Having said that, it can take several months for any residual swelling to resolve and for the buttock implants to settle into their preferred position before the final results can be seen. These implants can last a lifetime but the body will still be impacted by the effects of gravity and aging so some future changes can happen to the look of the buttocks. The length of the results can be increased by maintaining a stable weight and following a healthy lifestyle including exercising on a regular basis.
When it comes to having butt implants placed in the body, the amount of butt augmentation that can be gained depends on the elasticity of the skin, the elasticity of the gluteus maximus muscles and the size of the implants that can be placed while still maintaining a natural appearance. Before the surgery is performed, the doctor will evaluate the body of the person to determine the butt implant size that is most appropriate for the patient.
Some of the most common risks of the surgery include the implant flipping after it is in the body, capsular contracture, and the shifting of the implants so they provide an asymmetrical appearance to the butt.
The surgeon of choice can address any of these concerns as well as answer any questions on the part of the patient before a final decision is made to have buttock implants placed in the body.
